Museum to host Day of Play at UMANI Festival on Saturday
MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Museum & Art Center will participate in Our World: Worldwide Day of Play on Saturday, according to an announcement from the museum. As a day dedicated to experiencing joyful learning through play, this event focuses on getting kids and their families up, out and playing around.
The event coincides with UMANI Festival, and all ages are invited to come to the museum and enjoy unplugged play, featuring traditional toys and games popular in Hispanic and Latin American countries, mega chess, dominoes and more, the museum wrote in the announcement.
Our World: Worldwide Day of Play is part of a partnership between the Association of Children’s Museums and Nickelodeon, according to ACM’s website. Earlier this year, the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center received a $500 grant from Nickelodeon that the museum has used to help fund information translation and toys for this year’s Day of Play event at the UMANI Festival.
ACM is the foremost professional society supporting children’s museums in developing rich environments that stimulate children’s natural playfulness, curiosity and creativity, according to the announcement. Started in 1962, ACM now boasts more than 470 members in all 50 states and in 19 countries.
Nickelodeon, now in its 45th year, is the No. 1 entertainment brand for kids, according to the announcement. The brand includes television programming and production in the United States and around the world, plus consumer products, digital, location-based experiences, publishing and feature films.
