Cody Alan Wachal

| September 24, 2024 1:24 PM

It is with great sadness and much love that we mourn the tragic passing of Cody Alan Wachal, 35, on Sept. 5, 2024, in Columbus, Ga., at the young age of 35 years.

Cody was born in La Grange, Ga., before his family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho. He lived the majority of his childhood in Twin Falls, before his family moved to Moses Lake, Wash.

Throughout his childhood and as an adult, Cody was loved and adored by all he met. Anyone who ever met Cody would tell you, he had a huge heart and personality. Known for making others laugh as well as giving the shirt off his back to those he called his own. He forever sought adventure, living in Las Vegas, Georgia, Moses Lake and Twin Falls.

He was a jack of all trades; construction worker, firefighter, lineman, carpenter. But his love and passion lay in woodworking, just as his grandfather’s did. Cody had an extreme love of music, from playing cello (first chair) in school, to shredding the guitar in a metal band. Cody was always excited to show you “this new song,” and he was always where you heard it first. But the one thing Cody was most proud of was his nieces and nephews. “Uncle Dad,” as he called himself. “His kids” were what he loved and cherished most. Cody was a great man, great brother, great uncle, great friend.

Cody was a great human being.

Cody’s soul lives on in all those who shared a piece of his life.

He is survived by his mother, Sherri Collard, and her husband, Rick, Twin Falls, Idaho. Brother Chris Wachal, Twin Falls, Idaho. His sister, Ashley Cook, husband Chris and their children, Nevaeh, Sierra, Deegan, Nathaniel, Malikye, Lincoln and Liberty, Mohler, Wash. Sister Jen McCabe, husband Casey and their four boys, Kellin Short, daughter Ezkadilla Randell Short, Kaiden Short-Alexander, Kiran McCabe, Jaelyn McCabe. Sister Christina Monroe.

A private memorial will be held for friends and family at a later date in October. Those who wish to attend and pay final respects are welcome to contact the family at 509-771-2568 or 509-389-3700.
