Santa Leyva Alvarado

Santa Leyva Alvarado passed away at the age of 86 on Sept. 7, 2024, peacefully at her home in Moses Lake, Wash. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and her loving companion pet, Prieta. 

Santa was born May 6, 1938, in San Pedro De Las Colonias, Coahuila, Mexico, to Cruz Leyva and Maria Riojas Leyva. She married Gilbert Alvarado Sr. and together welcomed a daughter and two sons, Maria Valdez, Rick Alvarado and Gilbert Alvarado. 

Santa spent many years working in the food processing industry in Quincy and Moses Lake where she met many of her close friends over the years. 

Santa is survived by her children, Rick Alvarado, Maria Valdez and Gilbert Alvarado; brothers Miguel Leyva and Gilberto Leyva; sister Gloria Marroquin; grandchildren Andy Torres Jr., Anthony Torres, Aquire Zambrano and Karla Guiterrez; great-grandchildren Grace Guiterrez, Mercy Guiterrez, Faith Guiterrez, Trinidad Kaleb Guiterrez, Izela Torres, Crystal Torres, Angel Torres, Alessandra Torres, Analia Zambrano, Anizaya Zambrano, Amaria Rojas, Riyah Tapio, Zahviar Torres, Ezekel Torres and Josiah Torres, along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cruz and Maria Leyva, and sister Rosa Hernandez and Veronica Garcia. Funeral will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 229 Fourth Ave. in Mabton, Wash., on Sept. 18, 2024, at 10 a.m.
