MOSES LAKE – Owners of Papa’s Casino are still assessing the damage after a truck ran into the side of the building Wednesday morning.

Moses Lake Police Department responded to a call from Papa’s saying there was a suspicious subject covered in blood in the bathroom. According to the press release from MLPD, when the officers arrived, they observed a vehicle had hit the back of the building.

“We got there and there was a pick-up truck that had run into the building and left about a three-foot hole. The vehicle didn’t go all the way through the building, and we don’t know what the damage is to the building yet,” MLPD Captain Jeff Sursely said.

The police then determined that the suspicious person was the driver of the vehicle. He was detained, and medics were called to the scene. He was transported to the Samaritan Hospital for treatment by the Moses Lake Fire Department. The driver is a 69-year-old man from Moses Lake. There are no charges pending, the MLPD press release said.

“As far as we know, someone veered off of Stratford and hit our building. That’s about all we know,” Cale Russell, manager at Ten Pin Tap House and Restaurant. “Our staff was down there, and the glass broke in the brewery, and we thought the building might have shifted. We didn’t realize at first what happened. Come to find out there is a hole in the side of the building and there was a car that hit us.”

Russell said it is unknown what the damage is to the building besides the obvious hole in the side and the broken glass.

“It’s hard to know at this point what the truck all did,” Russell said. “We are having them remove the glass before anyone really goes back in there. So, we don’t really know the extent of the damage yet. From what we can see there is no structural damage to the building.”
