Bird knocks out power in S. Moses Lake Monday
MOSES LAKE — More than 900 customers lost power Monday in South Moses Lake due to a bird that damaged substation equipment, according to a Grant County Public Utility District press release. The power returned to customers at around 4:30 p.m.
Grant PUD released a secondary statement on what to do if there is a power outage which includes unplugging electronics, flipping power breakers for major appliances and air conditioners and using flashlights instead of candles for lighting.
When the power returns, Grant PUD recommends that customers wait a couple of minutes before plugging in and turning on major appliances to help with any system overloads. Then, check for damage by inspecting electrical appliances for damage and wear that might have happened during the outage.
