Two booked for siphoning gas
EPHRATA — Two suspects were arrested Sunday afternoon after they were caught siphoning gas from a local farmer, according to a statement from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 12:50 p.m. on Road 20.5 Northeast in rural Ephrata, a local farmer called 911 after finding a vehicle on private property, according to the statement. The farmer said they found two suspects who had a gas can and a siphon.
The two suspects said they had just taken gasoline; one suspect gave a fake name, and they drove away.
The property owner then followed. Both vehicles soon crashed off Sheep Canyon Road Northwest, then reentered the road where the property owner blocked the suspects' path, the GCSO wrote in the statement. The two suspects then tried to flee on foot.
They were then arrested after being found walking down Sheep Canyon Road.
Colt Trumble, 20, Ephrata, was booked into the Grant County Jail for trespassing, third-degree theft, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance, according to the GCSO. Tianna Trumble, 20, listed as a transient, was booked into Grant County Jail for trespassing and third-degree theft.
The suspects’ vehicle has been impounded with a pending search warrant.
