| September 3, 2024 2:17 PM

Wayne Alan Christensen, 58, of Moses Lake, Wash., passed away Aug. 21, 2024. Born on July 2, 1966, in Spokane, Wayne moved to Moses Lake early in his childhood, where he graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1984.

Wayne started a family early in life; only a year after graduating high school, he welcomed his first son. He started work at Bob's Cafe in Moses Lake, and later began working at ASIMI, overseeing fire and safety at the company. His family had grown during that time, welcoming his only daughter and second son. Wayne moved to Spokane with his family to start his own cleaning business. He eventually pursued his love for the sea, working on various boats for Alaskan Leader Fisheries in the Bering Sea. His passion for the ocean and his adventurous spirit led him to a life filled with memorable experiences on the water.

Wayne was a man of many passions. He cherished the time spent camping, boating and exploring Lake Roosevelt with family and friends. His weekends at Lake Roosevelt were a highlight, filled with laughter, boating adventures, and the camaraderie of his beloved "D Dock Rocks!" crew. Wayne was also a gifted cook, known for his delicious cinnamon rolls, barbecued steaks and oysters — dishes that became family favorites over the years.

Wayne’s larger-than-life personality, warm heart and outgoing nature left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He had a unique ability to make strangers feel like old friends and was always there to support those in need. Though he faced his own struggles, his love for his family and friends was unwavering, and he will be remembered for the kindness and care he showed to others.

Wayne is survived by his three children, Christopher Christensen (Sara) of Spokane, Devin Clerf (Nick) of Ellensburg and Colton Christensen of Spokane. He was a proud grandfather to Jens and Tenley Christensen, and Cayson and Ella Clerf. Wayne also leaves behind his siblings, Linda White, Robert “Bob” Christensen and Cora Fowler, along with many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert "Bob" and Harriet Christensen; his brother-in-law, Rick White; his niece, Carly Alwine.

Wayne’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him. His family invites those who knew and loved him to remember the joy he brought into their lives and to celebrate the life of a man who, despite life’s challenges, always strived to love deeply and live fully.

A memorial will be held in Moses Lake, Wash., at the Japanese Peace Gardens, in the Dick Deane Pavillion on Sept. 15, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
