Hazardous waste collections scheduled for mid-Sept.
EPHRATA – Grant County Solid Waste will be hosting two household hazardous waste events in September with support from the Washington State Department of Ecology. The events are free for all Grant County households. No business, government agency or contractor waste will be accepted.
The first event is Sept. 13 from noon until 4 p.m. at Delano Regional Transfer Station in Grand Coulee, 22151 Alcon Road NE. The second event is Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Grant County Public Works Complex in Ephrata, 124 Enterprise St. SE.
Common items accepted include paints, stains, paint thinners, aerosols, gasoline, yard chemicals, automotive fluids (must be labeled as pure oil or mixed with solvents), pool chemicals, corrosives, adhesives, rechargeable batteries, fire extinguishers, road flares, fluorescent bulbs and tubes.
Waste should be brought in original non-leaking containers. Gasoline containers will not be returned.
Items not accepted include empty containers, lead acid batteries, ammunition, asbestos, explosives, medications, alkaline batteries, propane tanks, sharps such as needles, electronics, appliances or containers larger than five gallons.
