Othello Fall Clean Up coming Saturday
OTHELLO — Just in time for leaf-raking season, Othello residents will have a place to dispose of yard debris during the city’s annual fall cleanup from 8 a.m. to about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Fall cleanup is an established event in Othello, so there’s a routine – the temporary disposal station is set up on the loading dock at 1016 S. Broadway Ave. Residents can bring yard vegetation and compost material for dropoff. Only loads transported in pickups and small utility trucks will be accepted.
The city will accept grass clippings, leaves and tree and shrub trimmings. Tree and shrub pieces must be a maximum of 6 inches in diameter and 4 feet long.
Other materials won’t be accepted, such as dirt and cement, gravel and sod, paint, household hazardous waste, batteries and tires, household garbage and metal items, among others. City employees will have the option to reject materials.
People who want more information can find it on the city’s website, www.othellowa.gov.
