Halloween events for Oct. 25-31

COLUMBIA BASIN — Ghosties and ghoulies and things that go bump in the night will be out and about the Basin. Here are a few family-friendly ways to get your scare on.

Oct. 25-26

Othello straw maze

The Othello Rodeo Association will host the last weekend of its straw maze Friday and Saturday at the rodeo grounds, 821 South Reynolds Road. The maze also will be open on Halloween night. It’s full of pitch-black spaces, ominous sounds and treacherous surprises; people who don’t embrace the scary can watch a Halloween movie in the outdoor theater. There’s a no-scare tour from 6 to 7 p.m. nightly, with the scary stuff from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is $15 per person, with the proceeds going to the rodeo association. Info: www.othellorodeo.com.

Oct. 25-27

Moses Lake Sand Dunes Halloween Bash

Enjoy a weekend of family fun with contests, trick-or-treating, drag racing, raffles and more. All proceeds and donations go to the Dravet Syndrome Foundation. 8 a.m. Friday-10 a.m. Sunday at the Moses Lake Sand Dunes ORV Park.

Oct. 26

Moses Lake Farmers Market

Last farmers market of the year. Bring the kids to trick-or-treat with the vendors and vote for your favorite decorated pumpkin. 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at McCosh Park, Moses Lake. Info: 509-750-7831.

Harvest Festival

Downtown Moses Lake transforms into a hub of autumnal activities at the annual Harvest Fest. This community event promises a day filled with fun, creativity, and memories that will help people get into the Halloween mood. 2-5 p.m. on Third Avenue in downtown Moses Lake. Free pumpkin painting

Bring paint clothes and a box to transport the pumpkin in and get creative, then stop by the Tiger Tail Cafe for drinks. Hosted by Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. 9-11 a.m. in front of Ephrata High School, 333 Fourth Ave. NW.

Pumpkin carving contest

Show your pumpkin-carving skills at this family-friendly event. 2 p.m. at American Legion Post 28, 276 Eighth Ave. NW, Ephrata. Info: 509-754-2761.

Oct. 31

Downtown Trick or Treat

All kinds of creatures will be out and about in downtown Quincy for the annual Trick or Treat walk. Central Avenue South will be closed to B Street Southeast; spooky music will be provided by Phase 3 DJ – Albert Castro. Trick or Treat will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., or until the candy runs out. Mattawa Trunk or Treat

The city of Mattawa is sponsoring Trunk or Treat from 5 to 7 p.m. in the city hall parking lot, 521 Government Road. People are invited to decorate their cars and hand out candy. Refreshments will be available on site for purchase.

Happy Howl-oween

Bring your pet dressed in costume for some Halloween fun for the whole family. Admission is free. 4-6 p.m. at Brookdale Hearthstone Moses Lake, 905 S. Pioneer Way. Info and reservations: 509-765-2121.

‘Carnival of Souls’ Halloween movie

The classic 1962 film follows Mary Henry, a young woman whose life is disturbed after a car accident. She relocates to a new city, where she finds herself unable to assimilate with the locals and becomes drawn to the pavilion of an abandoned carnival. Rated PG and recommended for ages 13 and up. Halloween Brew-ha-ha

Stop by with the littles for trick-or-treating before 7 p.m., then enjoy an adult evening of mystery and fun. Trunk or Treat
