Cathy Miller Hyden

| October 21, 2024 2:58 PM

With a deep sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Cathy at age 68 from complications due to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Cathy grew up in a large active family in Ephrata, Wash. Although she was the youngest, she was an enthusiastic participant in highly competitive family games. Who can forget her battling it out with her brothers over Bounce-the Ball Off the Roof and Follow the Leader on Trampoline and innumerable card games? Her summer days were filled with lifeguarding at the pool and sunning in Sun Lakes State Park.

She attended both Washington State University and Whitman College, graduating summa cum laude. After her father passed away, Cathy truly valued the time she got to spend working with her mother in her craft store in Ephrata. Soon though, a career beckoned, and she moved to Western Washington to begin her long career in product and partner marketing for a wide variety of high-technology businesses. Her talents and business style were much sought after as technology evolved and led her to significant success in the field.

Cathy relocated to Monument, Colorado in the late '90s with her family where her children grew up and the family prospered. An early champion of remote work, she continued her career as a subject matter expert for both local and national companies until her retirement. Cathy was active in the Tri-Lakes Woman's Club, and maintained tight relationships with her Washington friends, visiting often. She loved a good local brew, playing with her grandchildren and taking long drives with her husband exploring wherever some random dirt road might take them.

Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Thelma Miller of Ephrata, and her brothers, Bob, Danny and Doug Miller.

She is survived by Lloyd, her loving husband of 35 years, her children, Terrenan Jo Reedy (Pete) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Zachary Hyden (Faith Overall) of Lafayette, Colo., grandchildren Lindsey, Ryder and River Reedy, also of Colorado Springs, sister Barb Carlson of Soap Lake, Wash., and many other members of the Miller clan who live throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Cathy fiercely loved her family and her friends. Whether biking the highways of Washington state with them, hiking the trails of Colorado, racing to the nearest playground equipment with her much-adored grandchildren, or even just being in the same room with her, our memory of Cathy will be dominated by unbounded energy, an electric smile, and a raucous laugh for all who were around her. Cathy will be dearly missed by all of us. Peace, my love.
