Helen Elaine Turner, age 104, passed away Oct. 14, 2024, at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, Wash. Helen was born May 14, 1920, in Somerset, Pa., to Earl and Bessie (Dean) Juday.

She was raised in Oroville and Omak, Wash., graduating from Omak High School before attending Kimbell Business School in Wenatchee, Wash.

In order to cover school expenses, she worked in fruit packing sheds and spent time with her sister Winnie's family in Molson, Wash., where she met Blaine Kenneth Turner of Chesaw, Wash. Blaine and Helen were married in 1942 while Blaine was serving in the U.S. Army. Upon his discharge from the Army, the couple returned to Chesaw where they ranched and Blaine also worked as a Rural Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. In 1959 the family moved to Odessa, Wash., where they both worked for the Post Office and continued to raise cattle and horses in their spare time. After retiring from the Post Office, they continued to ranch for a few more years in Block 40, North of Moses Lake, before retiring for real and moving to Cascade Valley with their horses. Blaine died in 2010 and Helen continued to live in her Cascade Valley home.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Earl and Bessie (Dean) Juday, Blaine K Turner, Winifred Fletcher (Bill), Naomi Van Wort (Roy), Kathleen England (Rollo) and brother Dean Juday.

She is survived by sons Kenneth (Dusty) and Dean (Arlie), granddaughter Char, great-granddaughters Kaylie (Bryce) Olsen and Brianna Harper (TeeJay), great-great-grandson Byrnk Olsen and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
