Basin events for Oct. 18-26

COLUMBIA BASIN – As always, there is plenty of activity set for the Columbia Basin this week. Check out these events and remember that it’s never a bad idea to have a little fun. 

Oct. 18 & 25 

Open Mic Night 

The Soap Lake Senior Center has partnered with the Youth Empowerment Program for an open-mic night each Friday from 5-7 p.m. Participants are welcomed to perform music, poetry, comedy, dance and karaoke for a fun time out with fellow community members. The center is located at 121 Second Ave. SE in Soap Lake. Call Kate at 253-348-9652 for more information. 

Oct. 19  

Ephrata Wine Walk

The Ephrata Chamber of Commerce invites those 21 and older to join them for some spooky fun with a Halloween-themed wine walk. Swing into the Ephrata Recreation Center to receive a glass, drink card and map before heading out for the walk. Once you’re done, rejoin the fun at the ERC for food, a chance to purchase featured wines and live music. Tickets are $50 online or the day of the event. Designated driver tickets are $30 and include dinner and non-alcoholic beverages. T-shirts are available for pre-order. Yotes at Moses Lake Taproom  

Yotes combines his rich baritone vocals with an energetic delivery, playing a mix of songs from 1950s country, 1980s neo-rockabilly, modern Americana and many genres and eras in between. He mixes songs by Johnny Cash, The Stray Cats, The Blasters and Murder By Death with his own compositions. 6 p.m. at Moses Lake taproom, 530 W. Valley Road. Info: moseslaketaproom.com.  

The Saddle Rockers  

Concert in the George Coffeehouse Series. The Saddle Rockers, a five-piece band from Wenatchee, bring a blend of bluegrass, country swing and vintage rock music. $5 admission, 12 and under free. There will be a hat-pass for the musicians, and the suggested donation for this is $10-$12 per person. At halftime everyone is invited downstairs for a cookie and coffee break. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. at the George Community Hall, 403 W. Montmorency Blvd. Info: 509-785-3401. 

Oct. 20  

Moses Lake Half-Marathon  

Runners start at Blue Heron Park, head north along the coast of Moses Lake for 6.6 miles and turn around to the finish. All registered participants receive custom custom-designed T-shirt, Moses Lake Half-Marathon coaster and hand towel. Finishers receive custom forged medal. Winner receives the Blue Heron award and gift card to Michael's on the Lake. 8 a.m. at Blue Heron Park, Moses Lake. Info: 708-668-5488.  

Oct. 23 

Homework Help 

The Moses Lake Public Library offers free help with homework for teens and tweens at the library each Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Students who would like to get a bit of help with their assignments may visit the library at 418 E. Fifth Ave. In Moses Lake. Call 509-765-3489 for more information.  

Oct. 26  

Harvest Festival  

Downtown Moses Lake transforms into a hub of autumnal delight at the annual Harvest Fest. This beloved community event promises a day filled with laughter, creativity and heartwarming memories that will leave you embracing the spirit of the season. 2-5 p.m. on Third Avenue in downtown Moses Lake. Moravida festival  

Moravida Festival is a vibrant celebration of life inspired by the rich traditions of Dia de los Muertos. There will be family-friendly activities, live entertainment, engaging children's crafts, diverse food vendors and much more. This event is open to all and free to attend. 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Grant County Fairgrounds, 3953 Airway Drive NE, Moses Lake. Info: www.gcfairgrounds.com.
