Marvin Ellestad
Marvin Ray Ellestad passed away peacefully Oct. 14, 2024. Marvin was born Aug. 2, 1933, in rural Park Rapids, Minn., to Howard and Gladys Ellestad.
Marvin attended school in Backus, Minn., and was a big help with the family farm. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army as a cook.
On Oct. 5, 1957, he married Petra Hovland with whom he had four children. In 1963 the family moved to Moses Lake, Wash.
He worked for Bestway Motor Freight for many years until he started his own business, Custom Trucking. Marvin enjoyed his work, especially his customers. He worked until he could no longer work and then still answered calls from his customers sending them where they could find what they needed.
Marvin was very proud of his Norwegian heritage. Recently, he told a nurse to make sure to not take too much of that “Norwegian blood” it’s pretty special!
Marvin is survived by his daughter, Carmen (Stan) Stucky, and sons Gregory (Connie) Ellestad, Dan Ellestad and John (Amy) Ellestad, his grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley) Stucky, Joshua (Amanda) Stucky, Shandra (Alex) Aragon, Aaron (Tristan) Ellestad, Adlyn Ellestad and Iven Ellestad, and numerous great-grandchildren, all from Moses Lake.
We would like to send a special thank you to all of his loyal customers and friends. You kept him doing what he loved to do! Marv’s request was not to have a public service. Your thoughts and prayers for the family will be greatly appreciated! Thank you, dad, for everything. We will miss you!
