Basin events for Oct. 11-18

COLUMBIA BASIN — It’s mid-October and there are still a couple of weeks to stock up on candy and get started on costumes for Halloween. In the meantime, here are a few things to do in the Basin this week:   


Oct. 11 


Faith & Blue 

Moses Lake Police and local faith-based organizations join for a tailgate party before the Moses Lake High School football game. 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot at Lions Field, 715 W. Fourth Ave., Moses Lake. Info: 509-793-0331. 


Spooky ghost painting 

Learn to paint an adorable ghost with artist Nellie Hoots. $20 adults, $10 children. 5 p.m. at the Old Hotel, 33 Larch St., Othello. Info: 509-793-8424. 


Oct. 12 

Kid Vendor Day 

Get ready to be amazed by the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of our young vendors as they showcase their products and talents. Whether it's handmade jewelry, sweet treats or unique artworks, there are plenty of treasures to discover. 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Moses Lake Farmers Market, 401 W. Fourth Ave. Info: 509-750-7831. 


Crossroads Pregnancy Center banquet  

Fundraiser dinner to support Crossroads Pregnancy Resource Center in Moses Lake and Ephrata. Speaker is author and recording artist Steventhen Holland. 6 p.m. at the Grant County Fairgrounds, 3953 Airway Drive NE, Moses Lake. Info: pregnancywa.org. 


Country Dance  

Bring a potluck dish to share and cut a rug to Moses Lake’s own Rocky Ford Band. There is no charge but tips for the band are appreciated. Potluck starts at 5 p.m., dancing from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Moses Lake Senior Center, 608 E. Third Ave. Info: 509-765-7809.  


Oct. 15 


Othello Career Showcase 

Whether you're a community member or a local business owner, this is your chance to connect with enthusiastic students eager to explore career opportunities and showcase your business. In addition to connecting students with potential career paths, we’re opening the doors to job seekers from the community during the last hour of the showcase. 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Othello High School, 340 S. Moses Lake Chamber Annual Meeting/Ag Hall of Fame Banquet 

Meet the 2024/2025 Chamber board. Inductees for the Ag Hall of Fame will be announced and awards will be given for the Ambassador of the Year and the best-decorated table. Theme is “Garden Party.” Happy hour and table voting starts at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. in the Commercial Building at the Grant County Fairgrounds, 3953 Airway Drive NE, Moses Lake. Oct. 16 


Migrant PAC Meeting

Oct. 17 


Warden Friends of the Library book sale 

Look through new and like-new books and take home something new for your home library. Lots of hard-to-find early readers and early chapter books for this sale. Proceeds help fund library programs. 2-6 p.m. at the Warden Public Library, 305 S. Main St. Info: 509-349-2226. 


Molly in the Mineshaft 

Concert featuring a mixture of traditional folk styles including Celtic, bluegrass and blues. The Utah-based septet wields an array of instruments including mandolin, banjo, guitar, cello, fiddle and bagpipes, backing up three vocalists’ harmonies. 7 p.m. at the Wallenstien Theater, 6989 College Pkwy NE, Moses Lake. 


Pumpkin Floral Class

Oct. 18 


Kids movie: ‘Inside Out 2’ 

No school today, no problem. Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly-minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new emotions. Rated PG and runs 100 minutes long. Feel free to bring snacks to nibble on while watching the movie, just clean up after yourself before you leave.
