Suspect who fled from Ritzville PD caught in Spokane
Brain Sumner, 45, fled from Ritzville Police Department after attempting to strike an officer with a knife Saturday. Sumner was found Tuesday afternoon in Spokane and was held in Franklin County Jail for multiple charges.

RITZVILLE — One man is in custody after a potential domestic violence situation led to his flight from law enforcement over the weekend.
Saturday the Ritzville Police Department was dispatched to a domestic dispute where it was reported that a male suspect was hitting a woman near Lewis Street, according to an Adams County Sheriff’s Office statement.
Upon arrival the officer contacted two subjects and attempted to interview the woman, the man began interfering in the officer’s investigation. The man, Brian Sumner, 45, continued to interfere so the officer attempted to take him into custody. However, Sumner was armed with a knife and attempted to strike the officer with it then stuck the knife against the female subject's chest.
A citizen intervened and assisted with moving Sumner away from the woman. Sumner then fled on foot and the RPD officer ran after him, deployed his taser and was unsuccessful in catching Sumner.
Sumner ran, entered his vehicle and drove away. The RPD officer attempted to follow, however, the officer was unsuccessful.
There were no injuries reported during the incident.
ACSO issued a statement Tuesday morning regarding the incident and asking for the public's help to find Sumner because RPD has probable cause to arrest Sumner for the following charges: three counts of first-degree assault, third-degree assault, obstructing public servant, resisting and felony eluding.
By Tuesday afternoon, Sumner was located and taken into custody in Spokane. He is being held in the Franklin County Jail for the listed charges.
