QUINCY — Volleyball teams from across the state gathered in Quincy for last weekend’s Quincy Invitational, an annual volleyball tournament that was hosted by the Jackrabbits last Saturday.

Along with Quincy, local teams from Ephrata, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague, Royal and Wahluke attended the tournament. Other schools came as far as Orting.

“I counted up when the rankings came out this week, we had eight or nine teams that are currently ranked in the top 10 in the state in their respective classifications,” Quincy Head Coach Dean Pratt said.

The 20 teams in attendance were divided up into four pools to begin the day, with the top two teams in each pool – along with the top two teams that finished third in their pools – moving on to play in the Gold bracket. Cashmere won the Gold bracket for the second straight year, mounting a comeback to defeat Deer Park.

Ephrata, LRS and Royal all qualified for the Gold bracket; the Tigers lost to Cashmere and the Knights fell to Goldendale in the opening round, while the Broncos lost to Deer Park in the quarterfinals.

Wilbur-Creston-Keller won the Silver bracket and Lake Roosevelt won the Bronze bracket.

Wahluke defeated Quincy in the Bronze bracket’s opening round.
