Dixie Jacks
In loving memory of Dixie Christine Jacks, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully Nov. 21, 2024, at the age of 89. She was surrounded by love, leaving behind a lasting legacy of faith, kindness and strength.
Born on Dec. 14, 1934, in Greenfield, Mo., Dixie spent most of her life in Washington state, where she raised her family and built deep, meaningful relationships. Among those relationships was her treasured and lifelong friend, Alice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Tina Wymore; her husband, Wallace Jacks; her sister, Margaret Bennett; and many other cherished relatives in Missouri.
She is survived by her children, Debbie (Mike) Leedom, Pat (Liz) Jacks and Terry (Don) Sell, along with her beloved grandchildren, Amy (Dan) Norton, Arnold Mullinax, Michelle Leedom, Lora Leedom, Jessica (Tony) Russell, Amanda (Ryan) Carpenter, Whitney (Taegen) Daniels-Brown and Haley (Cade) Tunstall. Dixie was also a proud great-grandmother to Cambell and Griffin Carpenter, Tezra Rowlands, Wyatt and Emily Besel, and Mia Leedom-Gurley.
In 1953, Dixie married the love of her life, Wally Jacks, and together they shared a life full of love and devotion. After Wally’s passing in 1982, Dixie became a widow at the age of 48. Despite this, she remained strong and resilient, living with her sister Margaret until Margaret’s passing in 2019. The bond between the two sisters was an inseparable part of Dixie’s life.
Dixie will be remembered fondly for her work at Hearthstone, where she spent many years serving others alongside her dear friend, Dorthy. Her warmth and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving behind a trail of cherished memories.
One of her greatest joys was playing Yahtzee with visitors, and she had a special way of making the game enjoyable for everyone.
Above all, Dixie loved God and lived a life that reflected the teachings of 1 Corinthians 13, embodying love, patience, kindness and faith. Her unwavering belief in her faith guided her every step and brought comfort to all who sought her counsel.
Dixie’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever remember her as a woman of grace, resilience and deep love.
We will love you and miss you forever.
Her family is having a private viewing and graveside service Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024.
