Grant awarded to fight sexual exploitation
MOSES LAKE – The Fulcrum Institute Dispute Resolution Clinic’s SAVE ONE Sexual Exploitation Prevention Program has received a grant from Confluence Health and the Wenatchee Valley Medical Group through their Community Partnership Fund to support middle and high school students in North Central Washington, according to an announcement from the institute.
The grant will be used exclusively to provide impactful resources to students in schools across Okanogan, Chelan, Douglas and Grant counties, according to the announcement.
Along with the program's core instruction, these resources help students build a strong foundation in recognizing and preventing sexual exploitation. Delivered by the Fulcrum Institute Dispute Resolution Clinic throughout eastern Washington, the SAVE ONE program empowers youth with essential skills in healthy relationships, sex trafficking awareness, grooming prevention, identifying red flags, digital safety, self-advocacy and safety planning.
SAVE ONE also offers workshops for caregivers, educating them on how to identify warning signs, communicate effectively with youth and monitor online platforms to ensure safe interactions, the Fulcrum Institute wrote. Multiple schools in Spokane are already using Fulcrum’s SAVE ONE materials to address and prevent sexual exploitation and the program extends its reach through community events such as the Cozy Comforts Resource Fair.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from Confluence Health and the Wenatchee Valley Medical Group through the Community Partnership Fund,” SAVE ONE Program Director Hailey Richter wrote in the announcement.
