In light of recent discussions about the district’s financial situation, the school board wants to update the community on actions taken and our perspective on the current state of our financial management.

Initially, concerns were raised about the accuracy of our financial records and management practices, prompting calls for a forensic audit. Those concerns recognized the need for a thorough, independent review to ensure responsible oversight.

Since then, our recently appointed executive director of business and operations, Mitch Thompson, along with Superintendent Carol Lewis, has conducted an extensive review of our financial practices. Their efforts have clarified and confirmed the accuracy of our financial position. This review has renewed the board’s confidence in our ability to responsibly manage and oversee district finances.

Given these findings and the corrective actions already underway, we are confident that a forensic audit is not currently necessary. The measures now in place are designed to support responsible and sustainable financial management.

As we prepare for our upcoming levy, the board and administration remain fully committed to transparency, accountability and prudent financial stewardship. Maintaining the trust of our community is a priority, and we will uphold this trust through continued oversight and transparency.

Thank you for your continued support of our schools and community.
