SOAP LAKE – Having lost to No. 4 Walla Walla Valley Academy in the second round of the 1B State Volleyball Tournament, the No. 13 Soap Lake Eagles dropped into the consolation bracket for a matchup against No. 12 Willapa Valley, who bested the Eagles 3-1 on Wednesday night.

Soap Lake won the opening set 28-26 to take a 1-0 lead in the match, but the Vikings tied the game at one after winning the second set 25-22. Willapa Valley went on to win both the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-19, respectively, to defeat the Eagles 3-1.

The Eagles saw their season come to a close with the loss; Soap Lake finished third in the Central Washington B league standings and second at the district tournament to reach the state tournament in back-to-back seasons. Soap Lake defeated No. 20 Pe Ell in the opening round Wednesday morning.
