Basin football roundup: Week 10
MOSES LAKE – Four local football teams are moving on to their respective state tournaments, while the 2024 season came to an end for seven Basin squads last weekend.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline (8-2, 5-1 NEB)
58-20 win vs Dayton
The Warriors gained more than 400 total yards in Friday’s district crossover game against Dayton, including 238 yards on the ground in a 58-20 win. ACH scored all 58 of its points in the first half.
Junior Caden Correia completed five-of-six passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns in the win, with senior Jameson Conley catching three passes for 123 yards and a touchdown. Junior Harvest Parrish caught two passes for 94 yards and two scores.
Junior Brady Roberts led the Warriors with 131 yards and a touchdown on the ground, while Correia ran for 48 yards and two scores on six carries. Senior Carter Pitts had nine carries for 40 yards and a touchdown, while Parrish also reached the end zone on a rush.
ACH earned a No. 4 seed in the 1B State Football Tournament and will play No. 13 Inchelium Friday at Lions Field in Moses Lake. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
Ephrata (5-5, 4-4 CWAC)
29-0 win vs Ellensburg
Ephrata closed its season Friday night with a non-league matchup against Ellensburg, shutting out the Bulldogs in a 29-0 win to even their record at 5-5.
Friday’s game was the second time the Tigers and Bulldogs played this season; Ephrata won the previous matchup 9-6 on Sept. 20.
Junior Brady Hendrick completed 16-of-25 passes for 200 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the win, running for an additional 12 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Llandon Ahmann led the Tigers in rushing with 63 yards on three carries, followed by senior Elijah Chavez-Mabry's 59 yards.
Senior Coltyn Klingenberg caught eight passes for 100 yards and a touchdown in the win, leading the team. Senior Gage Nash caught the other touchdown in the win, scoring on a 17-yard reception.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague (4-6, 3-5 NE2B)
39-29 win at Riverside
Bronco senior Brody Boness ran for 432 yards and five touchdowns on 54 carries in Saturday’s win over the 1A Rams, leading LRS to a 39-29 win over Riverside.
Boness also caught a five-yard reception and completed a 74-yard pass for a touchdown in the win. Senior Zach Klein led the Broncos with 132 yards and a touchdown on five catches in the win.
LRS trailed 22-19 in the third quarter, but took the lead for good on a 14-yard touchdown run by Boness. Another touchdown by the senior in the fourth quarter put LRS up 31-22 before winning the game 39-29.
LRS finished the season with a 4-6 record.
Moses Lake (8-2, 6-0 CBBN)

MLCA/CCS (5-4, 4-2 CWB)
44-33 loss at Oroville
The Lions lost their regular season finale on Thursday to Oroville, but will still advance to the 1B State Football Tournament after finishing second in the Central Washington 1B league standings.
MLCA/CCS junior Johnny Ferguson completed 11-of-16 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns, rushing for an additional 196 yards and three scores on 12 carries. Sophomore Treyson Kast led the Lions in receiving with 82 yards and a touchdown on six catches.
After receiving the No. 14 seed in the 1B State Football Tournament, the Lions will travel to No. 3 Naselle this weekend. Date and time have yet to be released by the WIAA as of Monday afternoon.
Othello (9-1, 8-0 CWAC)
20-7 win vs Rogers (Spokane)
The Huskies overcame three first-half turnovers to defeat the Pirates 20-7 in the 2A State Crossover round Saturday, scoring two touchdowns in the second half and holding Rogers to under 200 yards of offense.
Othello junior Gavin Carl scored two rushing touchdowns in the win; a six-yard run in the first quarter to put the Huskies up 7-0, and a 35-yard run into the end zone in the third quarter to give Othello its eventual 20-7 final score. Senior Jordan DeLeon added a touchdown in the third quarter as well, scoring on a six-yard rush.
Othello, the 2A State Football Tournament’s No. 8 seed, hosts No. 9 Sehome at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Quincy (1-8, 0-8 CWAC)
No game
Quincy didn’t take the field last week, with their season coming to a close. The Jacks finished 2024 with a 1-8 record.
Royal (10-0, 8-0 SCAC)
76-6 win vs Klahowya
The Knights allowed their first points in nearly a month Friday against Klahowya in the 1A State Crossover Round, but still routed the Eagles in a 76-6 win to punch their ticket into the 1A State Football Tournament.
After Royal took a 7-0 lead on a five-yard run by senior Santana Luna, Klahowya responded with a 67-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to one point after failing to convert on a two-point attempt. The Knights then scored on a 74-yard kickoff returned for a touchdown by senior Benson Jenks, a 20-yard reception by junior Shea Stevenson, a 67-yard reception by Luna and a 22-yard interception returned for a touchdown by senior Lance Allred – all in the first quarter.
Allred completed six-of-nine passes for 162 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in the win. Luna led the Knights in Rushing with 132 and two scores on eight carries. Luna, Jenks, senior Jackson Larsen, Stevenson and sophomore Fischer Livingston all caught touchdowns in the win, while senior Kevin Gutierrez scored on the ground.
Royal earned the No. 1 seed in the 1A State Football Tournament and has a bye this week; the Knights will play the winner of No. 8 Lynden Christian and No. 9 Cascade Christian next week.
Soap Lake (5-4, 3-3 CWB)
70-14 win at Bridgeport
The Eagles ran for nearly 400 yards in Thursday’s season finale against Bridgeport, defeating the Mustangs 70-14 at home to end the season with a win.
Senior Sam Schopf led Soap Lake with 20 carries for 262 yards and four touchdowns; freshman Albeiro Reyes, junior Logan Northup and senior Robby Fisher also scored on the ground in the win.
Northup completed five-of-eight passes for 118 yards and three touchdowns. Fisher led the Eagles with three catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
Soap Lake ends the season with a 5-4 overall record.
Wahluke (2-7, 2-6 SCAC)
No game
Wahluke didn’t play in Week 10, ending its season with a 2-7 overall record.
Warden (5-5, 1-3 EWAC East)
78-9 loss at Okanogan – statistics not available
Warden’s season came to an end in a winner-to-state matchup against the undefeated Okanogan Bulldogs, falling 78-9 to end their season with a 5-5 overall record.
