Pellicciotti leading in State Treasurer polls
OLYMPIA – Democrat incumbent Mike Pellicciotti is leading the polls for State Treasurer with 57.73% of voters. His opponent, Republican Sharon Hanek has 72.17% of voters.
However, as votes continue to be counted, the winner could change until the County Canvassing Boards certifies and transmits the results to the Secretary of State’s Office Nov. 26 and the Secretary of State certifies the election Dec. 5.
Statewide as of Nov. 8, at 4:50 p.m. Pellicciotti received around 1.9 million votes and Hanek received around 1.4 million votes.
However, in Grant County, as of Nov. 6 at 5:02 p.m., Hanek carried the local vote 70.81% of voters and 13,429 votes. Pellicciotti received 29.11% of voters and 5,521 votes. A similar trend happened in Adams County, as of Nov. 8, with Hanek leading the polls with 74.22% of voters and 3,680 votes. Pellicciotti trailed with 25.55% of voters and 1,267 votes in Adams County.
Pellicciotti also won the Aug. 6 primary election with almost 1.12 million votes and 52.84% of the majority. Hanek received around 800,000 votes and 43.64% of voters in the primary election.
