North 40 hosting firearm lock giveaway to promote safety
MOSES LAKE – In an effort to promote firearm safety, North 40 Outfitters in Moses Lake is hosting an event Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. where attendees will receive free gun safety devices such as lock boxes and trigger locks, courtesy of the Grant County Health District's Safe Kids and Injury Prevention programs.
The event aims to encourage gun owners to securely lock their firearms when not in use. Several options will be available including:
Trigger Locks: These two-piece devices fit through the trigger guard to prevent the trigger from being pulled. They can be secured with a combination, push-button, or key lock.
Lock Boxes: These conceal and protect firearms. Like trigger locks, they can be secured using either a combination or key lock.
It's critical to ensure that children and unauthorized individuals do not have access to the combination or key to these safety devices, according to the release from GCHD.
GCHD emphasizes the importance of always storing firearms safely to prevent accidents and unauthorized use. This initiative is part of a broader effort by GCHD to enhance community safety through its Safe Kids and Injury Prevention programs.
