LETTER: Appreciating Ian Bivona

| November 7, 2024 2:15 AM

Dear Editor,

Just wanted to reach out to you and let you know how much we appreciate Ian Bivona covering girls high school sports. He took time out of his Saturday to cover our high school girls soccer game and give them front-page coverage in the sports page. Him being there meant a lot to the team because it showed he and the Herald care, above the fact that it’s part of his job. We are well aware of how many teams there are in the Basin, how little resources you have, and he managed to make it to ours.

Ian gave our kid confidence interviewing her and quoted her great. He wrote a great article. The picture he took was an amazing snapshot that summarized the girls soccer team’s care for each other, it captured so much emotion! That alone was enough to prompt me to send you this positive message.

Thank you again, we have appreciated Ian’s efforts and work this season with ALL sports in the Basin (as well as the Herald) and hope he stays a while. We just wanted to let you know as parents and community members that he is doing great! Go Mavs!

Editor's Note:

Thank you, Ric and Lucy, for reaching out. Ian is an absolutely wonderful employee and someone I am daily grateful to work with. He is dedicated to the student athletes of the Columbia Basin and works hard to ensure the young athletes in Grant and Adams counties receive the recognition they deserve. We're glad Kamery and her team did so well this year and we hope for the Mavs continued success on and off the pitch.

Take care,
