Moses Lake man arrested for murder of grandfather
MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man was arrested Monday after his grandfather was found buried in a shallow grave near Stanley Road in Cascade Valley.
Isaiah Thomas, 27, was arrested and booked on suspicion of second-degree murder in the death of his grandfather, Richard Andrews, 75, Moses Lake. Andrews’ body was discovered Nov. 3.
“Moses Lake police officers traced the incident to a residence on Dale Street in the Knolls Vista neighborhood,” wrote Moses Lake Police Captain Jeff Sursely in a press release. “At this point, it appears that the homicide occurred at the Dale Street address, where Thomas had been living with the victim.”
Because Andrews was found in the jurisdiction of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the case has been a collaborative investigation, Sursely wrote.
The Washington State Patrol crime lab was called to assist in the investigation.
“Crime lab technicians are currently working at both locations and are expected to finish processing by late Tuesday night,” Sursely wrote.
The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Det. Carter with the MLPD, 509-764-3887.
