Weird and wonderful creatures in downtown Quincy Halloween night

QUINCY — Ninja turtles, walking coffee cups, elf princesses, dinosaurs, firefighters, walking tequila and lime, staff from Hogwarts and all kinds of creatures filled Quincy’s main street Halloween night for the Downtown Trick or Treat.

Families raged up and down Central Avenue South; some businesses were handing out candy right outside their front doors. But most of the action was down on B Street Southeast. The street was closed and businesses and organizations set up tables for candy distribution.

A couple of space creatures got in a mock lightsaber fight. A dinosaur skeleton waddled by, one of many strange and wonderful animals walking down the street. Pets got into the act; a couple of dogs had their faces painted.

Some families chose a theme, or at least a color scheme – one family featured a purple unicorn, a purple coffee cup and a fairy with purple wings. Some costumes were just too much – a trick-or-treater riding in a stroller really didn’t like that cow hood.

The Downtown Trick or Treat is sponsored by the Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce.
