Carol Hofstetter

| May 28, 2024 2:25 PM

In the early morning hours of Saturday, May 25, 2024, Carol Hofstetter, 77, passed peacefully in her sleep after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Bremerton, Wash., on Dec. 19, 1946, Carol Ann Kent-Hofstetter grew up on the west side of the state.

A close friend set Carol up on a blind date with Duane Merle Hofstetter.

Carol wasn't initially interested, but later said, "Someone that loved puppies and children the way he did couldn't be all bad."

After being married for a year, Carol and Duane headed over the mountains to settle in Moses Lake, Wash. Carol's favorite thing about the area was the fact that she could see for miles. Carol enjoyed working at Chico's Pizza for 12 years and loved telling her family about her time there.

Carol raised many children, but only two were her own, she also had a hand in raising her sisters.

Those who knew her on Sun Drive knew that her door was always open to anyone needing a place to rest. In 1998, Carol lost her husband, Duane, but never forgot him. She never took off her wedding ring.

In her later years, Carol spent a lot of time with her grandchildren and nieces. In her retirement, Carol dedicated much of her time to rose gardening. Later, she turned to quilting. Carol won many blue ribbons and best-in-show at the Grant County Fair with her masterful work. Carol spent many years at the local Senior Center quilting group, even teaching a class.

Many people might remember Carol by her Candy Pink Mustang. She received many generous offers to buy her car but turned them all down.

Carol was a larger-than-life person and will be remembered by many.

Carol is survived by sisters MaryDean Sanders and Pati Reynolds. Children Tony, his wife, Judy, and Sherry Hofstetter. Grandchildren Heather, her husband, Joey Butters, Matthew Morris, and Isabella Hofstetter. Great-grandchildren Avery and Alexis Butters, Carlos and Lucas Cedillo.

A service will be held Friday, June 7, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Presbyterian Church 1142 W. Ave. in Moses Lake.
