STCU coming to Moses Lake
MOSES LAKE — Spokane Teachers Credit Union’s Moses Lake branch should be open by fall, according to Dan Hansen, a spokesman for the credit union.
“It’s going to be our Penn Plaza branch,” Hansen said. “It’s our 39th location in Washington and North Idaho.”
The branch itself will be a 2,900-square-foot building with two drive-thru lanes and a separate drive-thru ATM, Hansen said. In addition, there will be a second 3,000-square-foot building that will probably house some kind of professional team from STCU.
“It could be like real estate, for instance, or it could be our investment services team,” Hansen said. “It's just yet to be determined.”
As the name would suggest, SCTU is headquartered in Spokane, but this isn’t the credit union’s first foray into the Basin. There are branches in Coulee City and Othello, and one in Coulee Dam, as well as an ATM in Grand Coulee. The credit union has more than 4,000 members in Grant County, according to Hansen.
SCTU has 277,000 members, Hansen said, including some in every state in the union as members have moved from Washington to other places. The credit union was founded 90 years ago, he said, and anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school can join; membership isn’t limited to educators.
“This will obviously be much more convenient for people who live in Moses Lake,” Hansen said, “but we also think when people are traveling across the state, it'll be a spot where they can stop. We're looking forward to being in Moses Lake.”
