Man airlifted after crash near Soap Lake
SOAP LAKE — A Moses Lake man suffered serious injuries in a collision near Soap Lake on Wednesday night, according to statements from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Grant County Fire District 7.
Devon White, 22, was driving a 2010 Ford Taurus west on Road 20 Northeast at about 10:30 p.m. when he lost control of the car near the 3900 block, according to the GCSO. The car struck a gravel driveway, became airborne, landed, struck a rock pillar and a wooden fence and came to rest in the ditch.
A GCFD 7 ambulance arrived and administered care to White, who had sustained a head injury, according to the fire district. GCFD personnel removed the car’s door and opened the roof to extract White from the vehicle. White was then airlifted via LifeFlight to a trauma center in Wenatchee.
White was apparently not wearing a seat belt, according to the GCSO. Speed and alcohol or drug impairment were reportedly factors in the collision.
