Ruth Elizabeth Genco, 94, a resident of Moses Lake, Wash., since 1960, went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2024.

Ruth was born Dec. 22, 1929, to Nicholas and Emma George in Idaho Falls, Idaho. In 1939 her family moved to homestead 80 acres in Homedale, Idaho. When she graduated high school she attended Kinman Business University in Spokane, Washington. While living in Spokane she met Peter Genco. They were married in 1952. They celebrated 64 years before Peter passed away in 2016.

They moved to Moses Lake, Wash., in 1960 and raised their family of one son and five daughters. Ruth was a homemaker and stable figure in the neighborhood. In 1967 she returned to the workforce and was employed by Big Bend Community College for 25 years, retiring in 1992.

Ruth was a faithful member in her church and in Women's Aglow, locally and internationally, a volunteer at Samaritan Hospital at the visitor's desk and an ombudsman for Area and Aging Adult Care. She volunteered at Longview Grade School reading with kids, and was active with the Moses Lake Senior Center. She was a member of TOPS No. 1082 for nearly her entire adult life. She had a dedication to the spirit of serving.

Ruth and Peter enjoyed dancing and will be dancing together again in heaven. Ruth loved conversation and she had many friends.

Survivors include Annemarie (Rick) Cadle, Carol (Guy) Hansen, Elizabeth (Pat) Ridgway and Faith (Steve) Benya, all of Moses Lake, Wash.; Barbara (Dan) Walsh of Nine Mile Falls, Wash., and Dino (Melinda) Genco of Layton, Utah. She had 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter, and one great-granddaughter. A family gathering will be planned for later.
