FRESH NEWS: Cold weather but jigging for walleye, bass and trout an option

MARDON — The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1043.65 feet — dropping .10 feet this past week. That’s  2.85 feet below full pool. Surface temperatures are 38-42 degrees.

The forecast for the next 10 days shows us warming up with the highs in the 50s, but the lows are still in the mid to upper 20s. That said — by March 16 anglers can expect 63 degrees with a low of 40. It won’t be long before the fish start moving.

Not much to report this week. We have had a lot of wind again — not many anglers out on the

water. If you venture out, use jig blade baits and 3.50” swim baits on a quarter-ounce jig head for walleye, bass and trout. Jig in 18-35 feet of water across the face of the sand dunes.

Corral Lake continues to produce nice catches of trout from the bank casting Rooster Tails.
