EPHRATA – The Ephrata American Legion has announced the details of its Annual St. Patrick’s Day Girls State and Boys State Dinner and Auction happening March 16 at the American Legion Post located at 276 Eighth Ave. NW in Ephrata.

“This is the main event for raising the necessary funds to sponsor young women and men for an experience of a lifetime. Girls State and Boys State are each a one-week-long intensive active learning experience of state government. There are also many opportunities for scholarships as well as making friends and constructive decisions regarding our state and their future,” said the post’s press contact, Jane Montaney, in a press release.

The meal consists of a traditional Irish corned beef and cabbage meal with ham available for those who prefer it. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. An auction will allow people to support Girls State and Boys State and a blarney stone will be there to bring attendees good luck and the gift of gab.

Members and guests are encouraged to get tickets early, according to the press release. Tickets are available at the post from noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $13 for individuals and $20 for couples.

This year’s event also celebrates the 105th anniversary of the forming of the American Legion.
