Local grocery store to sponsor food drive for 14th year
MOSES LAKE — Owners of the Moses Lake Grocery Outlet will be collecting donations of food and money for the store’s 14th annual “Independence from Hunger” campaign through the end of July.
It’s part of a campaign sponsored by Grocery Outlet/Bargain Market businesses throughout the country; in Moses Lake, Grocery Outlet is partnering with Care Moses Lake.
People who want to participate can make a monetary donation at the store, 1177 North Stratford Road. Monetary donations will benefit Care Moses Lake and its nonprofit partners.
The market also has an option that allows people to donate money when they buy groceries; customers who donate $5 or more will receive a coupon for a future discount. People also can pick up and purchase a bag already filled with food.
Grocery Outlet owners Paul and Kris Emerson have been involved in many charitable projects in Moses Lake. Among other things Kris Emerson has written and sold cookie cookbooks during the Christmas season to benefit the Salvation Army.
Care Moses Lake Director Michaelle Boetger wrote people also will have a chance to donate to the Independence from Hunger campaign during a fundraising Bingo night for Care Moses Lake and its nonprofit partners scheduled for July 13.
The Emersons have set a goal of $15,000 for 2024.
