BASIN Events calendar for July 2024

MOSES LAKE — As June rolls into July, the days are getting a bit warmer, the fish are biting and the car enthusiasts, golfers and children of the Columbia Basin are celebrating their season. The events below are a partial listing of what is going on in Grant and Adams counties. July 4 events will be published separately to ensure folks can celebrate our nation’s birthday.

July 2

Moses Lake business after hours

The Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce will be holding its business after hours event on July 2 at Skaug Bros Carpet One Floor & Home at 222 East Third Avenue in Moses Lake. Cost of entry is $15 per person and the event runs from 5-7 p.m. The chamber also has multiple events scheduled throughout the month such as ribbon cuttings for new members. July 3

Creative construction for kids

The Quincy Public Library invites junior construction enthusiasts to its Makedo Creative Construction event. Children will be given child-safe tools and cardboard to come up with their own construction creations and explore what it’s like to create something from scratch. Participants will be able to take home their creations and the event is free for children. The fun starts at 2 p.m. and runs for two hours. Supplies may be limited. https://bit.ly/3RJrOcG 

July 5

Children’s movie at the library

The Quincy Public Library invites families to come by for a viewing of the movie “Wish” a PG-rated film that features a young girl that wishes on a star and gets a bit more than she bargained for. July 6

Soap Box in Soap Lake

The Soap Lake Police Department will host its annual soap box derby event on July 6 at 9 a.m. The event welcomes participants aged 8-10 who want to have a fun time. Fitment and decorating cars will occur July 5 to ensure derby vehicles are safe to use and everyone has a good time. Grange car show

Join White Trail Grange #1143 for the organization’s annual car show on a Saturday in July. The car show is open to the public to come and enjoy the vehicles, a bazaar, bake and craft sale, silent auction, barn dance and food. Entries in the show are available to cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, hot rods and rat rods and prizes will be awarded to participants. Show & Shine for Christ car show

Head over to the Bethel Church parking lot at 915 S. First Avenue in Othello for a car show. Competition entries cost $15 but the public is welcome to attend and see the cars. The sixth annual event will feature food, trophies and slow drags. https://bit.ly/3XGZCe9

July 12

“You’re killin’ me smalls” 

Head out to Lions Park in Othello for a screening of the movie “The Sandlot” and see how baseball, a sense of adventure and James Earl Jones combine for an awesome story. The screening of this PG-rated feature is free, and the City of Othello is hosting the event. Movie is set to begin at 8:45 p.m. Call 509-488-5686 for more information.

July 13

Goat Yoga

Cloudview Farm hosts goat yoga periodically throughout the summer to allow people to come out, enjoy the farm and focus on their health – while surrounded by adorable goats. 2024 Bingo Fundraiser

Care Moses Lake is excited to have Grant County Sheriff Joey Kriete emcee a community bingo night at the Moses Lake Event Center. Proceeds from the event will support Boys & Girls Clubs, the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation, Columbia Basin K9s, Big Bend Community College’s Viking Food Pantry, New Hope/Kids Hope, Habitat for Humanity, Youth Dynamics, Central Basin Community Concert Association, Columbia Basin Allied Arts, the Downtown Moses Lake Association and other local nonprofits serving Moses Lake and the surrounding area. Tickets are $30 and include a taco plate from A Crew BBQ & Catering, two drink tokens and DJ’d music by Dale Roth. Larry McCourtie Golf Tourney

Take a swing with some friends in this golf scramble tournament at the Othello Golf Course at 2269 W Mockingbird Lane. Entry is $100 per person with teams of four people for the scramble. July 14

Blink 182 at The Gorge

The Gorge Amphitheater will host Blink 182 for rock and alternative fans on a Sunday. Ticket prices start at $115 plus fees and processing and prices may vary depending on how and where tickets are purchased. Pierce the Veil will join the band as the opener for the show. https://bit.ly/BLINKGORGE 

July 18

Purple Party!

Join those trying to kick Alzheimer’s Disease to the curb at the Purple Party at the Porterhouse Steakhouse in cooperation with the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce. The party serves as a fundraising event – and a chance for some fun with other community members – to support the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease. The event runs from 5-7 p.m. at the restaurant at 217 N. Elder Street in Moses Lake. Entry to the Purple Party is free and Walk to End Alzheimer’s teams will be able to coordinate and plan. 2024 Car Show & Shine

The Ephrata Chamber of Commerce invites the public to visit its annual car show or participate if they have a vehicle they want to show to the public. Attendance is free for those who just want to check the cars out and registration is $25 for those who would like to enter their car into the show. The event is held along Third Avenue in front of the Grant County Courthouse in downtown Ephrata. 

Live music and cold cider

Farmer’s Market in Ephrata

    Othello has several community events, many of which happen at Lions Park, throughout the summer. In July, residents and visitors can visit the park for a screening of "The Sandlot."
 
 
    All of the libraries around the Columbia Basin, including the Quincy location shown here, offer a variety of activities for children and adults throughout the summer months. This month, Quincy's library is hosting activities for those interested in building things.
