Veda Bessie Griffiths Hadley

Veda Bessie Griffiths Hadley, 86, of Moses Lake, Wash., passed away June 5, 2024 after sustaining a debilitating stroke.

Veda was born Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1937, the youngest of 10 children, to Andrew Heggie Griffiths and Adline Griffiths Godfrey at the family home in Clarkston, Utah.

Veda graduated from North Cache High School in 1956 and went on to complete a nine-month business course at the Steven Hennigar School of Business. After receiving her college certificate, Veda worked in numerous locations until accepting her mission call to the British Mission from Jan. 9, 1961, to July 1962. 

Jan. 1, 1963, Veda met her future husband, Stirland Dale Hadley, on a blind date. They were married for time and all eternity in the Logan temple Nov. 6, 1964. 

Veda and Dale have one daughter, Charolette McDowell.

In 1966, Dale and Veda moved to Washington state where Veda worked at the Othello Community Hospital until 1984. She later accepted a position with what is now J.R. Simplot, retiring in 2009.

Veda spent her free time going to family reunions, attending temple sessions, going to church, traveling, attending grandchildren's and great-grandchildren’s events, puzzling, reading, journaling and collecting. 

Veda was predeceased by her husband, Dale, brothers and sisters Lowell, Weldon, Lydia, Asael, Alton (Demar), Nettie (VaLoice) and Sadie as well as her parents.

Veda is survived by her daughter, Charolette (Hadley) McDowell, grandchildren Whitnei (Jon) Ehr, Curtis (Kileen) Seibel, Kayleb (Jessica) Jensen, Nathen (Charlize) McDowell and honorary grandchild Keelie (Morgan) Hart, Great-grandchildren: Emmie, Chaycee, Willow, Aryabel, Kingsley, Porter and she is also survived by sisters Theo and Phyllis.

Service will be held at The Rose Street Chapel, 1036 W. Rose Ave., Moses Lake, WA 98837. Monday, June 17th, 2024. Viewing: 10:00 a.m. Service: 11:00 a.m. Internment immediately following the service at Royal Memorial Gardens, 900 Apple Ave. N.E. Royal City, WA 99357.
