MOSES LAKE — Activities abound this week in the Columbia Basin with festivals, car shows and a bunch of other fun activities to get out of the house and enjoy the early summer weather. If you're looking for something to do, Grant and Adams counties have plenty to offer over the next week.
June 7-8
Sage ‘n Sun Festival
The 112th Sage ‘n Sun festival will take to the streets and Grant County Courthouse lawn with music and the annual parade. Three bands are scheduled for Friday night, and three more for Saturday night. The annual parade will roll and walk down Basin Street Southwest at 11 a.m. https://www.ephratachamber.org/
Grant County Historical Museum
The museum, 742 Basin St. SW, Ephrata, opens its doors for the summer with a car show, face painting barbecue and other activities immediately following the Sage ‘n Sun parade. Activities include stick horse races for children and an Old West shootout on the museum’s Main Street.

The Little Big Show
It’s one of the biggest events in Wilson Creek — it’s right there in the title. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, basically anything with wheels, are invited to the Little Big Show. Participants are encouraged to register in advance at the Little Big Show website, www.thelittlebigshow.com.

“Before the Bomb: Old Hanford”
The Quincy Valley Historical Society & Museum sponsors a series of bus tours each summer, and June 2024 is a look at Hanford before it became a center for production of atomic bomb components. Part of the tour is a look at the remains of Hanford High School, which became offices, then a military training site. Bus leaves for the Hanford Manhattan Project Historical Site at 8:45 a.m., advance registration required; reservations can be made at www.qvhsm.org.

Tenth Annual Senior Picnic
“It’s Tiki Time” will be the theme of the 10th annual Senior Picnic and Resource Fair in the Commercial Building at the Grant County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free for seniors. Along with lunch and live music, seniors will receive goodie bags and door prizes. Organizations will also provide information about services available to seniors.
