MOSES LAKE — Undersheriff John McMillan administered the oath of office to Corrections Deputy Mason Boyes on Monday morning. The ceremony was witnessed by Boyes' new coworkers.
MOSES LAKE – Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a head-on collision just before 11 p.m. Friday, according to a GCSO statement. A car driven by Jesse Burke, 19, of Royal City, was heading south on Beverly Burke Road Southwest, approaching the intersection with Road 5 Southwest. Another vehicle driven by Marco Santos Cortez, 28, was headed north on Beverly Burke Road Southwest.
Santos Cortez made an abrupt left-hand turn towards Road 5 Southwest and collided with Vehicle 2. Santos Cortez was intoxicated and placed in custody for DUI. Burke sustained a concussion and other injuries.
Cortez was booked for vehicular assault and DUI and lodged in the Grant County Jail.
MOSES LAKE — After leading Grant County Sheriff’s Deputies on a chase with speeds topping 100 miles per hour, Gary Hutt, 50, of Moses Lake was caught by K9 Uno after his motorcycle became stuck in the soil of a farm field near Road 12 Northeast and Road Q Northeast about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a GCSO statement.
According to the statement, deputies then found a one-quarter pound of meth, a scale and several small baggies on Hutt’s motorcycle. Hutt was lodged in the Grant County Jail for felony eluding and possession of meth with intent to distribute.
MOSES LAKE — Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report around 1 a.m. Sunday of a physical domestic violence incident at 1417 Craig Street in Moses Lake, where the caller said 22-year-old Justin Bolden shattered a window and was in front of the residence, according to a GCSO statement.
A deputy attempted to detain Bolden, who resisted and ended up on the ground fighting with the deputy before being taken into custody. Bolden was arrested for third-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence). He was lodged in the Grant County Jail.
MOSES LAKE — According to a Grant County Sheriff’s Office statement, a GCSO deputy was on-scene standing by while a man removed his possessions from a home at 420 East Washington St. in Coulee City Sunday when shots were fired at the residence.
The female inside the home, Tamra Routley, 58, noticed a pickup truck pulling up to the back gate to load the man’s possessions. Tamra allegedly went outside to the gate and fired one or two shots from a handgun into the ground. That prompted the deputy to call for help resulting in a large response from law enforcement. Nobody was injured, and Tamra was taken into custody for investigation of two counts of second-degree assault. She was lodged in the Grant County Jail.
OTHELLO — The city of Othello has invited members of the public to join them for the Lion’s Park Iron Horse Playground Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on June 14 at 1 p.m., according to a statement from the city. Parents are encouraged to arrive early with their children in order to enter them into a drawing for a chance to be randomly selected to assist Mayor Shawn Logan and legislators in the ribbon cutting.
