Sidney Paul Gregory

| June 3, 2024 2:36 PM

Sidney Paul Gregory, 88, born April 2, 1936, in Monroe, Wash., was a man of many chapters. As the youngest of six boys to George and Grace Gregory, he grew up in the Pacific Northwest, where he developed a strong sense of family and community.

After graduating from Everett High School in 1954, Sid’s journey took him to enlist in the U.S. Air Force. Most of his service was at Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyo. During this time, he married Patricia Weeks, and their first child, Richard Paul, was born in 1958.

After his military service, Sid returned to Everett, Washington, where he embarked on a successful banking career. He eventually became the Manager of the Kirkland branch of the Peoples National Bank. His second son, Daniel Curtis, was born in 1963. In 1971, Sid resigned from the bank to become the President and CEO of the Bank of Kirkland. His family expanded as he married Sharon Lamroe, and they together welcomed two children: Daughter Sheryl Lynn (born in 1975) and son Paul Christian (born in 1976).

Sid’s adventurous spirit led him to the Columbia Basin, where he served as the treasurer and controller of Busby Inc. Later, he moved to Bakersfield, California, as a district manager for EK Williams. The family’s journey continued back to Moses Lake, then to Santa Barbara, California, where Sid became the VP of EK Williams. Eventually, the business relocated to Denver, and so did the Gregory family.

Sid’s entrepreneurial drive led him to establish accounting firms in Lynnwood and Bellevue. He later founded his own business, Gregory & Associates. But it was love that brought him full circle. Returning to Moses Lake, he fell in love with Mary Thoenen. They married in Puerto Rico in 1999 and spent over 19 years together in Moses Lake. With this marriage, Sid gained a bonus daughter, Raejean.

While living in Moses Lake he served in the following organizations:

• President of Boys & Girls Club for two years

• President of Moses Lake Business Association for one year

• Chairman of Grant County Republican Party for one year

• Board of directors for two local businesses

• Treasurer and board member of the Moses Lake Golf and Country Club

• Past member of Moses Lake Planning Commission

In 2019, Sid and Mary relocated to El Paso, Texas. Throughout his life, Sid enjoyed golfing and playing Texas Hold ‘em. But above all, he cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Sid’s legacy lives on through the memories shared by family and friends. He will be remembered for his resilience, love and unwavering commitment to those he held dear.

Sid is survived by his wife Mary of El Paso, Texas, children Sheryl (Chris) Cassella of Moses Lake, Paul (Tawny) Gregory of Bennett, Colo., Raejean (DJ) Hastings of Moses Lake, Wash.; 10 grandchildren: Curtis, Brianne (Adam), Aaron, Nicolas, Wyatt, Ellie, Mason, Reece, Colton and Wyatt, four great-grandchildren: Cora, Wesley, Joshua and Lindsay, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene, Clifford, George, Mervin and Kenneth, his two older sons, Richard and Daniel, as well as his parents, George and Grace.

Services will be held at Pillar Rock Grill at 1373 Road F.2 NE in Moses Lake on Wednesday, July 31, at 10 a.m.
