WA delegation shows the Evergreen State’s aerospace leadership at UK airshow
OLYMPIA — The largest delegation from Washington state ever, led by Lt. Governor Denny Heck and State Senate Majority Leader Andy Billig, is currently in the United Kingdom attending the 2024 Farnborough International Air Show.
The delegation, consisting of representatives from 16 of Washington's top aerospace companies, is showcasing the state's latest innovations in the aerospace industry under the theme "Leading the Way in Building a Sustainable Future."

Governor Denny Heck in a press release from the Washington State Department of Commerce. “As I travel across the state and meet with officials and businesses around the world, I continue to marvel at our state’s reputation for innovation and forward-thinking. I am looking forward to sharing our story with those attending the Farnborough International Airshow and invite them to the Choose Washington Pavilion to learn more about business, investment and trade opportunities in our state.”
The Choose Washington Pavilion is serving as the hub for the delegation, where attendees can meet with exhibitors such as AeroTEC, Alitheon, Connected Ops and others from Washington. Additionally, leaders from the Washington State Department of Commerce and seven economic development organizations will be present to highlight Washington's focus on sustainable fuels, electric aircraft, Industry 4.0 and commercial space.
Keith Swenson, Deputy Assistant Director for Commerce’s Office of Economic Development and Competitiveness, highlighted Washington's long-standing legacy in the aerospace industry and the ongoing efforts to drive innovation in air travel and space exploration.
The conference program includes several forums and discussions, with Sen. Billig participating in a session on achieving net-zero emissions in the aerospace industry. Lt. Gov. Heck will lead a panel discussion on innovation and sustainability in aerospace, aviation and space, featuring industry experts and government officials.
The delegation's activities will kick off with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by Lt. Gov. Heck and Sen. Billig, followed by a series of meetings with industry leaders and dignitaries throughout the show. Overall, the delegation aims to showcase Washington's commitment to advancing the aerospace industry and driving toward a more sustainable future.
