MOSES LAKE — In 2024 the Moses Lake Alumni Association, founded in 2007, completed 18 years of activity, during which it awarded college scholarships totaling $265,000 to 240 recipients. The funds came entirely from membership donations, including donations honoring deceased family, friends and classmates.

MLAA members are alumni of Moses Lake School District as well as any supporters of higher education among Moses Lake’s students. It is not necessary to have graduated from Moses Lake High School.

For the first time since COVID-19 struck in 2020, the Association was able to meet in person to reunite old friends, honor our scholarship recipients and celebrate its freedoms and purposes. The 18th celebration was held at the Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center on April 28, including members, scholars and their families.

Scholarships were awarded to the following 13 graduates: Arturo Renteria Anguiano, Beck Ashton, Alyson Bushnell, Anasilva Duarte-Quintero, Kimberly Garcia, Kyia Hunter-Kanoff , Blazer Luiten, Mitziana Espino Mancilla, Elitsa Mandevska, Yerely Morfin, Addison Nighswonger,  Gabriela Servin and Ashlynn Tate.

Memorial scholarships honored Ben Tolley, MLHS Class of 1983 deceased classmates, Davie Alporque, Elizabeth Schwab, Dr. Victor and Ann Klobucher, Bob Schroeder, Larry Pope and Angela Pope.

At the 18th celebration the current board of directors was introduced: President Nathan Clark, vice-president Tami Mackey, treasurer Steve Tolley and secretary Susan Blackwell, with members-at-large Shirley Pryor and Cynthia Calbick, and Stacey Clark chairing the scholarship committee.
