The reports below were provided by the sheriff’s office or police department indicated. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Ephrata PD

July 3

Report of a suspicious bag of clothing left in the early morning hours in the 100 block of Basin Street Northwest. Clothes were removed from the property.

Report of a hit-and-run in a drive-thru in the 1100 block of Basin Street Southwest.

Report of two boxes of photos stolen from a residence on D Street Northeast. Reporting party believes one of two subjects has a key to her residence and used it to get in.

Report of a disturbance about to become physical between six subjects at a business in the 300 block of Basin Street Northwest. Subjects left before law enforcement arrived.

Report of a two-vehicle non-injury collision in the area of D Street and Fifth Avenue Southwest. Vehicle 2 turned wide to the right to enter a driveway and was struck on the right side by vehicle 1.

Report of a single-vehicle collision in the 300 block of Third Avenue Northeast. Driver missed a turn and struck a large rock in front of their residence. Subject admitted to drinking and was processed for DUI.

July 5

Report of an attempted vehicle prowl on Seventh Avenue Southwest. A male subject was seen by the vehicle owner’s neighbor shoving something into the vehicle’s keyhole. The neighbor asked the subject what he was doing, and the subject left without making entry into the vehicle.

Report of harassment on G Street Northwest. A subject thought the reporting party’s husband was sleeping with the subject’s wife, threatened to beat up the reporting party’s husband and then showed up at their house. Law enforcement explained how inappropriate it was to threaten violence and show up at someone’s house.

Report of a theft on D Street Northeast. Reporting party mostly just needed someone to speak to and officer spoke with her for several minutes while she vented.

July 6

Report of a trailer stolen from a construction site.

Report of a two-vehicle non-injury collision. Vehicle 1 was backing out of a parking spot and struck vehicle 2.

Report of an apparent DUI in the 800 block of Basin Street Northwest. Subject parked in a parking lot and officer made contact with her. Suspect showed no signs of driving under the influence, but told the officer that she gets shots in her eyes that make it difficult to see. Subject’s niece was called to take her home.

July 7

Report of Roman candle-style fireworks being fired off out of a moving vehicle between Ephrata and Soap Lake. Vehicle could not be located.

Report of graffiti at the soccer complex. Bench and tree had been painted with black spray paint.

July 8

Report of a possible fight on Ivy Street Northeast. When officers arrived they found the victim lying shirtless in the street and the suspect yelling and walking toward the victim. Suspect refused to be detained and was taken to the ground and arrested.

Report of a male subject trespassing on property in the 200 block of G Street Northeast. Subject could not be located.

Report of a female subject who had packed her bags and cut her wrist when she was found in an alley. Subject requested to be taken to Columbia Basin Hospital. Law enforcement contacted the subject’s mother, who said she was unaware of the subject injuring herself.

July 9

Report of harassment in the 200 block of E Street Southwest. Reporting party advised that a male subject had been making vague threats over work-related issues. Reporting party also said the subject had been drinking and did not believe he would follow through on the threats.

July 10

Report of damage to a business in the 200 block of Basin Street Northwest. Subject came to the business around 2:30 a.m., wandered around the area for about 20 minutes, then used a hammer to smash the door. Subject did not make entry.

Report of a collision between a vehicle and a power pole. Vehicle sustained damage to the front driver’s-side wheel and floorboard.

July 2

Report of theft from a business in the 1000 block of North Stratford Road. Subject was stopped and trespassed.

Report of a stolen motorbike spotted by its owner as several juveniles pushed it down the road. Reporting party got the bike back from the juveniles before law enforcement arrived.

Report of a subject riding a skateboard in the street in the area of North Stratford Road and West Knolls Vista Drive. Subject could not be located.

Report of a two-vehicle non-injury collision in the 500 block of North Stratford Road.

Report of a trespasser at a business in the 3700 block of East Broadway Avenue. Subject was caught on surveillance cameras looking at the reporting party’s belongings but nothing appeared to have been taken or was missing.

Report of a hit-and-run in the 1100 block of South Pioneer Way. The suspect vehicle was identified from surveillance footage, but the victim could not be contacted.

Report of juveniles trespassing at a residence in the 1400 block of West Fern Drive. Reporting party said the juveniles jumped the back fence and were harassing her in her yard. 

Report of a disturbance at a business in the 1800 block of East Kittelson Road. A drunk male subject attempted to buy alcohol and was refused. Officers located the subject at his residence but he was unwilling to talk with them.

Report of a wheelchair stolen from Samaritan Hospital. Suspect entered the hospital, took the wheelchair to a vehicle in the parking lot, loaded it in the vehicle and left. The suspect was identified from security video and photos, but officers were unable to locate him.

Report of theft from a business in the 600 block of South Pioneer Way. Subject was located and permanently trespassed. 

Report of items stolen from a boat in front of a residence in the 800 block of North Westshore Drive. Items’ value was estimated at about $625.

July 3

Report of a caller making inappropriate statements to MACC Dispatch on the phone, and saying he had shot someone. Officers located the subject and determined he was in need of mental health treatment. Subject was given a courtesy ride to the hospital.

Report of a vehicle vandalized in the 1100 block of West Meadow View Drive. A strip of firecrackers was lit on the trunk of the vehicle, causing damage to the rear window and trunk lid. 

Report of a Mariners jersey valued at $45 stolen from a business in the 1000 block of North Stratford Road. Subject was arrested and permanently trespassed.

Report of a cart full of items stolen from a business in the 600 block of South Pioneer Way. Suspect ditched the cart in the parking lot and fled.

Report of a male subject calling a city employee names while the employee was working at the Japanese Peace Gardens. Officer contacted the subject and told him to stop yelling.

Report of a two-vehicle collision at North Stratford Road and East Broadway Avenue. Vehicle 1 attempted an improper right turn in front of vehicle 2. Driver of vehicle 2 was taken to Samaritan Hospital to be evaluated for a leg injury.

Report of a male subject mumbling and waving a frying pan and a box of cereal outside a business in the 500 block of East Third Avenue. Subject eventually moved along.

Report of a collision in the 1000 block of North Stratford Road.

Report of a male subject and a female subject causing a disturbance during lunch at the Moses Lake Senior Center. The two were trespassed at employees’ request and they left without incident.

Report of a two-vehicle non-injury collision at East Wheeler Road and North Fig Street.

Report of a male subject harassing customers at a business in the 1700 block of East Kittelson Road. Law enforcement contacted the subject and trespassed him from the property.

Report of a male subject entering the Moses Lake Public Library and defecating in a waste basket. Law enforcement searched the park nearby and could not locate the subject, whose identity is unknown.

Report of a generator stolen from a food truck at West Fourth Avenue and South Beech Street. 

July 4

Report of a trailer and ATV stolen in the 1100 block of South Pioneer Way.

Report of four white pit bull mix puppies abandoned at the Cascade Park campground. People staying at the campground said they would assist in finding the puppies alternative housing as Grant County Animal Outreach was full and closed for the holiday.

Report of a hit-and-run at West Valley Road and North Central Drive. Subject didn’t see a bicyclist in the right lane, tried to turn right and struck him. Victim sustained a scrape on his right forearm.

Report of psychedelic mushrooms left in a motel room.

Report of a 911 hangup on South James Avenue. Upon arrival officers observed a male placing his hands on a female. The male refused to listen to officers’ commands and was tased before being arrested.

Report of two subjects walking out of a business in the 1000 block of North Stratford Road with unpaid merchandise. All items were recovered.

Report of a two-vehicle non-injury collision in a parking lot in the 1000 block of North Stratford Road.

Report of a male subject in a sleeping bag in a parking lot in the 900 block of North Stratford Road. Officer advised subject to find some shade.

Report of theft on South Clover Drive. Reporting party said her ex pried open her current boyfriend’s fence and stole her dog from the residence.

July 5

Report of an individual on West Maple Drive who had been drinking all day driving away. The vehicle could not be located and the subject did not answer his phone.

Report of a woman with dementia driving away from her house on West Wood Court. The woman’s husband was able to track his wife through her phone. Law enforcement contacted the wife in the 600 block of South Pioneer Way, finding her confused and disoriented. An officer picked up the husband so he could drive his wife home.

Report of an alcoholic beverage stolen from a business in the 500 block of South Pioneer Way.

Report of panhandlers trespassing on private property in the 1000 block of North Stratford Road.

Report of a fight on West Ridge Road. Two subjects were using objects as weapons on each other and both sustained minor injuries. The subjects were separated and Moses Lake Fire Department personnel evaluated one subject, who declined medical treatment. Both subjects refused to press charges.

Report of a tow dolly stolen from a business in the 1100 block of West Broadway Avenue.

Report of a vehicle fire in the area of South Leanne Avenue and East Tanglewood Drive. Video surveillance indicated that the truck had been deliberately set on fire with fireworks.

July 6

Report of graffiti on a truck on East Third Avenue. 

Report of theft from a business in the 1000 block of North Stratford Road. Law enforcement contacted the subjects, who were juveniles. Subjects were trespassed.

Report of a two-vehicle collision at South Alder Street and North Stratford Road. Driver of vehicle 1 had a seizure and rear-ended vehicle 2. Driver of vehicle 1 was transported to Samaritan Hospital.

July 7

Report of a subject on foot in the drive-thru of a business in the 700 block of North Stratford Road. Subject left before law enforcement arrived.

Report of an abandoned vehicle in the 1700 block of East Kittelson Road that appeared to have been in a collision. The vehicle had hit the center median on SR 17, hit the traffic caution light and come to a stop on the side of SR 17. Law enforcement located a subject walking in the area, who admitted to having driven the vehicle. The subject was processed for DUI and the vehicle towed.

Report of a dementia patient trying to enter the wrong apartment on West Wall Street after a walk. Law enforcement contacted the female and escorted her to her apartment.

Report of a suspicious male looking into parked vehicles in the 700 block of South Dahlia Drive. Subject told law enforcement he was waiting to be picked up by a friend.

Report of a male subject causing a disturbance at a business in the 500 block of South Pioneer Way. Subject was detained and later released.

Report of a burglary at a business in the 1200 block of South Pioneer Way.

Report of two subjects causing a disturbance at a business in the 1200 block of South Pioneer Way. Subjects were contacted and one was arrested for warrants. Both were permanently trespassed.

Report of campers near the railroad tracks on West Broadway Avenue. Subjects were told they could not camp there and moved along willingly.

Report of a female subject with no shoes at a business in  the 800 block of North Stratford Road. Female was given a ride home.

Report of a dog left in a vehicle in 100-degree heat. Vehicle was contacted and law enforcement found that the windows were rolled down and the dog was fine.

Report of a shirtless subject behaving strangely at a business in the 1700 block of East Kittelson Road. Officers contacted the subject, who appeared intoxicated, and asked him to leave.

Report of a vehicle doing donuts in the street in the 1500 block of South Moses Lake Avenue. Vehicle was gone before law enforcement arrived.

Report of a male subject lying in the street who said he had no idea what was going on. Law enforcement contacted the subject lying on a sidewalk. He said he was OK and he might need medical attention at a later time.

Report of a subject with declining mental health locked out of his room in the 300 block of South Pioneer Way in his underwear and throwing things off the balcony. The door was opened for the subject and he was coaxed back into his room with pizza.

July 8

Report of a female patient at Samaritan Hospital refusing to leave after being discharged. Officers escorted the subject off the property.

Report of camping gear valued at approximately $1,500 stolen from the Cascade Park Campground. A canopy belonging to the reporting party was found under a van with nobody at the campsite.

Report of oil plugs stolen from a work vehicle in the 1400 block of East Yonezawa Boulevard.

Report of a homeless subject yelling at staff at a business in the 600 block of North Stratford Road. Officers contacted and trespassed the subject.

Report of two bikes stolen on North Crestview Drive.

Report of a two-vehicle non-injury collision in the 600 block of North Stratford Road. Vehicle 1 was following vehicle too closely and the driver of vehicle 1 looked away from the roadway and rear-ended vehicle 2 when it slowed down for traffic.

Report of a door kicked in on East Craig Street. Reporting party said this was the second time in a week.

Report of a subject locking herself in the bathroom at a business in the 800 block of North Stratford Road and refusing to leave. Subject was trespassed for 99 years.

Report of tagging in the men’s room at Knolls Vista Park.

Report of people in a white van speaking with a child at the intersection of South Skyline Drive and East Sharon Avenue. Law enforcement verified that the people in the van were the child’s family.

Report of eight bottles of tequila stolen from a business in the 500 block of South Pioneer Way.

Report of the windows broken out of a vehicle in the 300 block of South Pioneer Way. Subject fled in a vehicle.

July 9

Report of juveniles drinking alcohol in McCosh Park. Juveniles left on foot when the officer arrived, and he dumped out the remaining alcohol.

Report of a male subject lying on the sidewalk at South Pioneer Way and East Fifth Avenue. Subject was contacted and said he was charging his cell phone. Subject agreed to move along.
