| January 30, 2024 12:31 PM

Constance Arlene Lindell, 97, was born in Rathdrum, Idaho, on Oct. 2, 1926. She passed quietly on Jan. 27, 2024.

Known as Arlene by the Nelson side of the family and Connie by everyone else, she grew up in Rathdrum with one younger sister, Virginia, the daughters of Bernard and Constance Louise Nelson.

Connie went to nursing school at the University of Oregon Health Science Center in Portland. She served in the Cadet Nurse Corps during WWII and after as a surgical nurse at U of O hospital where she met Ernest V. Lindell, a dental student. They were married in 1950. The marriage lasted 3 weeks short of their 60th anniversary before he passed in 2010.

They moved to Moses Lake in 1953 where they raised four children and were active in many community projects and activities.

She is survived by her four children: Constance Marie Lindell (Robert Arnold), Kathleen A. Lindell, Ernest Brian Lindell (Susan), and Bruce A. Lindell; four grandchildren: Nichole, Kirsten, Lauren and Saige and eight nieces and nephews with their families.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Tunnel of Towers or Wounded Warriors Foundations in her memory, two of her regular charitable donation sites. Or a charity of your choice.

Please express your thoughts and memories for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are under the care of Kayser's Chapel of Memories.

Constance Lindell served in the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. The organization freed up others to serve closer to the front lines allowed more Allied soldiers to be saved while maintaining quality of care for Americans at home. The patch above was included in cadet nurses' uniforms. More information may be found at uscadetnurse.org.
