Rene "Tito" Domingo Gonzalez

| January 16, 2024 3:14 PM

Rene “Tito” Doming Gonzalez, 43, a lifelong resident of Moses Lake, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by family and friends on Jan. 14, 2024.

Tito was born on Dec. 28, 1980, in Moses Lake, Washington, to Lalo and Blanca Gonzalez. He was one of four children. Tito graduated from Moses Lake High School in 2000.

Tito and Jennifer have a true love story. They met in 9th grade in 1995 in the hallways of Chief Moses Junior High School. They exchanged phone numbers through a mutual friend; shortly after, Tito gave Jennifer a note asking her if she wanted to be his girlfriend; she said yes after class. In 2001, they were married. They have two children, Alexis and Javier, and one grandson, Mason. Tito was a proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, cousin, co-worker and wonderful friend to countless others.

Tito has worked for the Grant County PUD for the past 16 years and has served in many roles throughout the organization. Tito was a proud union member and approached every day with a sense of purpose and a commitment to getting the job done right. Tito’s commitment to doing things right gave him a true appreciation for quality things. Tito could appreciate a quality cigar stored at the right humidity and temperature; a shot of fine tequila made from the best agave and aged in handmade barrels; the flavor of a craft beer brewed with the best ingredients; a great cut of beef smoked at just the right temperature and for just the right amount of time, the right fishing pole with the perfect reel combination for whatever species of fish he was seeking; a high-quality tool matched with the right job; a nice hotel in a good location; or a cozy camping spot with a stunning view of Lake Roosevelt sitting around a campfire with great friends.

Tito made the commitment to doing things right with his relationships with his family and friends as well. He was a committed son who grew up working side-by-side with his father Lalo, maintaining their rental properties and helping him build their house from the foundation up. Tito’s love for his mother, Blanca, is undeniable, and he did everything he could to help make a comfortable home for her where she was surrounded by a loving family. Tito made his children Alexis and Javier a priority in his life, did everything he could to ensure they had everything they needed, and gave them all the love he could provide. His grandson Mason loved coming to Papa’s house because he knew he would always have something to do, a toy to play with, something to ride, or a project he could help him with outside or in the shop. As a husband, Tito was committed to the love of his life, Jennifer, and their marriage was a partnership in all things. Simply put, Tito was the foundation of his family.

Tito’s quick wit and engaging personality made him a friend to many. It was hard to spend time with Tito without cracking a smile or breaking out into laughter. He was a good listener with diverse interests, making him easy to converse with. He did not need to be the center of attention, but his humor and good nature drew people to him. Tito made an impression every day on those around him and created so many memories for us all. The list of incredible friendships for Tito is extremely long, but there is none more important to him than his best friend Abel Sabedra. Tito and Abel became friends in 10th grade and have been as close as brothers ever since.

Tito is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer, mother Blanca, daughter Alexis (Greg Whitney), son Javier, grandson Mason (Gonzalez-Whitney), brother Nano (Norma) Gonzalez, niece Victoria (Austin) Weber, nephew Juan Gonzalez, nephew Austin Kern, niece Vanessa Kern, and a large extended family. Tito is preceded in death by his grandparents, father Lalo, sister Rosie, and brother Gabriel.

The viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m., Rosary at 10 a.m., and Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment in the Guarding Angels Cemetery, Moses Lake.
