MOSES LAKE — Coming off of several game cancelations, the Runnin' Vikes hoped to get one final preseason game in before entering the challenging conference schedule ahead. Playing their first home game of the season, BBCC hosted the Everett Trojans at the Devries Activity Center on Saturday.

The Runnin' Vikes put themselves in an early hole in the first half as they struggled from the floor, shooting 34% from the field, 17% from behind the arc and 50% from the free throw line. Going into halftime down 14, BBCC hoped to complete yet another large-margin comeback. The offense came alive in the second half as BBCC shot 54% from the floor, 54% from deep and 75% from the free throw line. Although the offense was firing at a high and efficient level, 14 turnovers proved costly as Everett was able to score 15 points off of the Big Bend giveaways. The second half was a back-and-forth battle, but the first-half deficit proved to be too much for the Runnin' Vikes as BBCC dropped their home opener by a score of 88-73. Diego Carrera fueled the Viking offense dropping 20 points, five rebounds and eight assists while Gil Gonzalez scored seven points, recorded 10 rebounds and a season-high five steals in the loss.

BBCC opens up their conference schedule at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Wash., on Saturday, Jan. 6.
