James 'Jim' W. Hutton

| February 28, 2024 1:17 AM

James “Jim” W. Hutton passed away suddenly Dec. 3, 2023. Jim was born Oct. 19, 1967, to James “Skip” and Patricia Hutton in Spokane, Wash.

His father was in the Air Force during his childhood, so he lived in different places such as Guam, Okla., and Montana, until settling in Moses Lake in 1979. He attended Frontier Middle School and Moses Lake High School. Jim loved the outdoors; he loved hunting and fishing. He loved to ride his bike or walk all over town. Jim could build and rebuild pretty much anything he put his mind to and his hands on.

On Aug. 22, 1986, Jim welcomed a son, Scott Hutton, into his life. Although they may have lived apart, he was the light of his life and he loved him very much.

Jim spent time living in Texas, where he was a cook in a BBQ restaurant, worked on a family ranch and just enjoyed getting to know his family and Texas itself.

After his father’s death in 2010, he came home to live and help his mother, where he remained until he passed. Jim had some complicated issues but had a big heart and would help with whatever he could. In recent years his sister, Cheryl and he were able to be close and share in caring for their mother. He will be greatly missed and is very much loved.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Hutton, his son, Scott Hutton, and Sydney Hoyt, grandson Devynn and granddaughter Leilynd, sister Cheryl and husband JR Cox, nephew Brenden and fiancée Julia Page, niece Kenzie Cox, niece Alyssa and great-niece Brynnlee Cox.

Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents Koziols and Huttons, his father, James Hutton and brothers Scott Alan and James Alan.

Before the obituary was completed and shared, Jim’s mother passed.

Graveside services will be held March 4, 2024, at Guarding Angels cemetery following his mother's funeral.

Jame’s mother’s obituary may be found in today’s Lifestyle section of the Columbia Basin Herald.
