EPHRATA — The Ephrata School District is pleased to announce that Courtney Burck has been named the new head coach of Ephrata High School’s varsity boys tennis program.

“Courtney is a terrific addition to our coaching staff,” said Bryan Johnson, Ephrata High School Athletic Director. “She has a solid resume of coaching experience and proven success as a player during her time at Ephrata High School. We’re excited to see what she does with our boys tennis program.”

Burck has seven years of coaching experience at the high school level. Most recently, she was the head tennis coach of Cheney High School (2017-2018). Prior, she served as Cheney’s assistant tennis coach (2015-2016) and as the assistant tennis coach of Eatonville High School (2014). Burck played four years of tennis at EHS, winning the 2006 Girls Doubles WIAA State Championship with her teammate, Holly Hutchinson. During that year, the girls tennis team also won the team WIAA girls tennis championship.

A graduate of Eastern Washington University, Burck received her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. She has her Master's degree in school counseling from the University of the Southwest. In addition to coaching tennis, Burck is the school counselor at Grant Elementary School in the Ephrata School District.

“Ephrata has a great tennis program and I’m excited to build on its success,” said Burck. “My goal is to help kids enjoy tennis and be competitive in matches. Being a coach is more than just competition though, it’s important to help kids build character too.”
