SOAP LAKE — An Ephrata teen was killed in a single-vehicle collision Monday night, according to a statement from the Washington State Patrol.
The 16-year-old boy, whose name was not released, was driving south on SR 17 between Soap Lake and Coulee City at about 10:15 p.m. in a 2004 Honda Civic, according to the statement. He failed to negotiate a curve at about the halfway point and rolled the car, which came to rest on its top in the northbound lane.
The boy was declared deceased at the scene, the WSP wrote. He was not wearing a seat belt, but neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the incident.
EAST WENATCHEE — Police have made an arrest in a Feb. 1 homicide in East Wenatchee, according to a statement from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Travis E. Collins, 34, of Leavenworth, was arrested without incident in the 10 block of Deep Powder Lane in Leavenworth in connection with the death of Julio C. Garcia-Ramirez, 35, of East Wenatchee, Douglas County Undersheriff Tyler Caille wrote in the statement. The DCSO was assisted by the East Cascade SWAT team, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol.
In the early morning of Feb. 1, DCSO deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive male lying near a vehicle in the 1700 block of Rock Island Road, according to the statement. There they found Ramirez, who was deceased with injuries consistent with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Collins was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to the statement.
