Kathryn Bradley

Kathryn (Kathy) Ann Bradley (Naab), 71, was born May 25, 1952, to Benedict and Marguerite Naab in Ritzville, Wash. In her childhood, Kathryn showed her interest in animals and plants by wanting to spend her time outside in the garden with her mom, dad and grandma. She also wanted to adopt every animal that came into her sight. She tried to sneak frogs and a kitten onto the school bus once so she could take them to school to take care of them. Unfortunately, the teacher was not as compassionate as Kathy was, and her mom had to come and get the critters. Kathy attended grade school through high school in Moses Lake, Wash., and Central Washington University for a year and graduated from Big Bend Community College with a degree in nursing. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Hearthstone Inn in Moses Lake from 1986 to 1998 until she retired.

On March 18, 1978, she married the love of her life, Lorn Bradley. Lorn and Kathy shared a wonderful life together. They purchased their house on Larson Air Force Base, shortly after getting married and enjoyed making the changes to make it their home.

Kathy enjoyed plants and animals just as she did when she was little. She could make any plant she put in the ground bloom into the most beautiful flower, tree or bush. She entered her flowers in the fair and often took first-place ribbons and best-of-show ribbons home. You would find Kathy feeding the quail and pigeons in front of her house daily to make sure they didn’t starve in the winter. She rescued and adopted many stray animals and nursed them back to health if they were ill. She often paid the veterinarian bill to have feral cats spayed or neutered. Lorn and Kathy enjoyed boating and fishing on the many local lakes. Kathy enjoyed spending time at their property in Roosevelt. She talked about watching the mountain goats and every spring seeing their babies along the mountainside as well. The elk and deer frequented their campsite as well. A hot cup of coffee and watching the animals on their property brought her peace and happiness. Kathy also enjoyed going to the casino and playing the slots and people-watching. Kathy lived with her husband, Lorn, their dog, Annie, their cat, Gypsy, and two doves.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite P. Naab, her father, Benedict R Naab, her son, Shawn Bradley, her sister, Mary Woods, and her Grandmother and Grandfather Bogovich. Her surviving family are Lorn Bradley, Samantha Bradley, Jonathan Bradley and Nathanael Bradley; two sisters Susan Clark and Christine Carey; three brothers John Naab, Robert Naab and Peter Naab; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Kathy’s biggest joy was spending time with her daughter, Samantha Bradley, and her two grandsons, Jonathan and Nathanael.

Kathy had the biggest heart and the most beautiful smile. She was a private and quiet person, but also very witty and fun! She was fearless and independent, yet sensitive and incredibly compassionate. She was strong-willed and stubborn, but those traits defined her. They were part of who she was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her deal with life’s challenges. From age 8, Kathy was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and later in life several autoimmune disorders.

Kathy was a strong fighter, but she is now riding on the wings of angels to Heaven. We know that she is free from pain and is floating peacefully. “Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean."

Instead of flowers, the family asks that a donation to one of Kathy’s favorite charities: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital; Daze of Camelot Animal Sanctuary in Moses Lake, Washington; and Wounded Warriors Projects.

Kathy, you will be greatly missed by all your family and friends. You will never be forgotten. We all love you.
