LaVern Kolves

LaVern Eldon Kolves passed away Jan. 30, 2024, at the age of 79 in Moses Lake, Wash. He was born Dec. 15, 1944, in Forrest City, Ill., to Martha Irene and Emor Lawerence Kolves.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kay, his brother, Michael Eugene Kolves, stepdaughters Harmony White and Melody Sheriff, and biological daughter Michelle. He was a cherished grandfather to Kaden Kolves, Kyler Kolves and Scarlett White. 

Vern is preceded in death by his parents, brother Lawrence Kolvis Jr., son Scott Kolves, and grandson Korey Kolves.

Vern was a kind, loving, and proud individual who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He pursued various careers, including working as a welder at the shipyards, a farm hand and a handyman. He was a horseman, an avid fisherman and had a passion for woodworking. He spent many hours crafting beautiful pieces.

He proudly graduated from high school in Illinois in 1963. Vern served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his dedication and commitment.

Vern's pacemaker will be repurposed by the University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center in their Beat Goes On Program.
